Cardboard protest signs from BLM demonstrations were reassembled into installation, preserving the immediacy of resistance.
In June 2020, thousands gathered in Copenhagen in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. After the demonstrations, I collected discarded cardboard protest signs, many bearing urgent messages and handmade marks of resistance. These materials were reassembled into installation, situating the raw language of protest within an artistic context. By doing so, the work preserved the immediacy of voices that might otherwise have vanished into the street. The BLM cardboards mark a turning point in The Discarded Archive, where discarded material is not only about memory and fragility but also about political urgency and the traces of collective action.
